Local Safety Net Resources

Remark to Assembly member Dave Jones on Facebook

Dave,

last night I went to collect signatures outside the Crest. It was late, no one was there except for one woman about 65 years old maybe sleeping sitting in a wheelchair in the dark right on the street corner. Her shoes were off and she had no sox. I will be trying to learn what someone in my position as a decent human being was supposed to do. If I had put her in my car, would I be charged with kidnapping? If she had died in my home, would I be under investigation for elder abuse? for murder? Christ- we ought to be able to call a phone number and get these people shelter, domestic violence or not. I strongly support self sustaining eco shelters. All we need is some land and the permits- I am sure companies would donate solar panels, rain water collection apparatus, solar showers, plus a community garden, composting toilets. Counselors could drop by to help out with more permanent plans. Can you help us with sustainable safety net resources such as a 912 number for which to route us to all local resources? Perhaps appoint a designated program coordinator to direct persons to local resources and the prompting of sustainable safety nets.

Thx for all you have done already.
